Reinforcement and Expansion of
Coffee Sector in Laos (RECoSeL)

Based on the success of the Coffee Development Project on the Boloven Plateau, AFD expanded it funding to RECoSeL Project which aims to develop the coffee commodity value chain with a resulting increase in small producer’s incomes and the improvement of the Lao Coffee Sector organizations.

  • Assist CPC to improve: (i) the production of organic coffee; (ii) quality in the post-harvest process; and (iii) national/regional marketing.

The Project has 3 main components:

  1. Technical support to Conseil National de Café Lao (CNCL);
  2. Technical support to Coffee Development in the North of Lao PDR; and
  3. Technical support to the Coffee Producers’ Cooperative (CPC).

LCG provided a team of four consultants to carry out the following activities:

  • Support the PMU in the coordination and monitoring including project administration and financial management;
  • Assist in the reorganization of CNCL’s structure to ensure equality in the representation of all coffee stakeholders including smallholder capacity building of the CNCL’s Coordination and Monitoring Unit;
  • Technical support for quality coffee production in Northern Laos with market-oriented production through farmer’s organizations
